Wrote about how to Manage AWS Instances with PowerShell. The AWS CLI is great but can be confusing and hard to remember. This wrapper function does the work and you just give it the details it needs.

Quickly start, stop, restart EC2 instances from the CLI by only providing the server name. Also allowing for cross regions and multiple profiles.

I am slowly turning into a fan of #aws Elastic Container Service.
It’s the first service handling deployments they shipped that’s not totally over-engineered (k8s) or broken beyond saving (ElasticBeanstalk).

Take definitions can be a bit odd from time to time. The docs don’t do a good job explaining some of the options. And have fun figuring out deployment time for X instances on Y EC2 machines in the ASG :)

But overall it really just does what it’s supposed to do. #devops

So, starting Feb 1 2024 #AWS will be charging $0.005/hour for each #IPv4 address you have, including the basic one needed for each active service. That's roughly $3.60 per month per address assuming a 30-day month. My guess is a lot of sites based on AWS infrastructure are going to become #IPv6 only that month.
