I have a thought about the issue of #Mastodon #accountMigration not bringing posts over. Part of the issue is intrinsic to #ActivityPub: a post URL is also its permalink and GUID, so even if it were copied over, it would have a different ID from the original post.
So, how about copying the posts and then making the original posts 304 Moved Permanently redirect to the new ones once the migration is done. Not a perfect solution, but a step in the right direction.

I need to dissociate myself from my old Hypermycotic handle. For one it has become quite dysphoric to me. But also, because I have some serious mental health issues and keeping this old handle is contributing towards degradation of MH.

What are my options aside from migrating to another instance? I have an account on chaosfem. I know I can migrate completely over there, but I want to keep an Eldritch dot cafe account. So… can I send myself an invite and just open a new account on this instance? Or do I need to migrate my followers to chaosfem, close close my account on eldritch, then get an invite from a friend to come back over? The latter is convoluted but possible.

I badly need to get Hypermycotic out of my life.

I only just migrated my account on mastodon.social to this one, which is the one I want to use And because mastodon.social is not only toxic but being silenced by other instances.

Now, I have to follow my followers again. Please let me go through the list, I just hope I don't overlook or forget anybody. Please bear with me.

That universal protocol I was talking about seems to be mostly #AMQP.

However, it doesn't seem to have its own way to start new direct TCP connections to new servers/instances.

So perhaps I could build something like a lightweight #ActivityPub successor on top of #AMQP.

The main features I wish to see would be:
- #AccountMigration and #AccountRenaming
- #SubAccounts (kinda like #GooglePlus's circles)
- #Multilingual messages and hashtags
- #DigitalSignatures

mastodon.social was good to start, but since many instances cut the connections there, because the moderation there seems to be not so good, I am now at mastodon.green.

Just read that posts/toots are not moved when you migrate to anoth #Mastoodon instance, apparently bc posts are referred by their full URL. I dunno. It “works” only as long as the old instance is up, and then there’s no point in preserving a rotten link. Why not have a “full” #AccountMigration and tell the old istance to 301 all links for that user?

So my understanding is that when you migrate your account to a new instance/server what have you, your old posts do not migrate with it. Which is a bummer. But I've only posted a handful of times so I might repost some stuff.
