Like Peter F Hamilton, he has the ability to craft a huge tome, that somehow doesn't actually feel like a massive tome when you're reading it, because it's immersive & clips along so well

Recently finished _Children of Ruin_, the second book in Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time series. They use the concept of #uplifting of non-human animals to

1. show how hard it would be to communicate with aliens (as finding common ground for communication with earth born intelligences is still very difficult)

2. take the time to find that common understanding rather than rashly resorting to violence

Just finished #ChildrenOfRuin by #AdrianTchaikovsky! Very good book with a healthy combination of space opera & speculative evolution. A great follow up to #ChildrenOfTime. I'm excited to read the next one when I can get my hands on it!

@bookstodon I am a voracious devourer of audiobooks. Good #SciFi is a welcome find. In addition I wanted a female narrator for a bit of a change. I can recommend #AdrianTchaikovsky’s “Children of Time”, first of a trilogy. The narrator #MelHudson is excellent.

This time #AdrianTchaikovsky's City of Last Chances, and it's even more gorgeous than I imagined when I saw the cover reveal back in June.

Back then I said "This HAS to be one of the coolest covers of 2022! So much symbolism and detail, I felt like I'd read a whole book when I was done examining it. Out in December. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!"

The gold foiling really brings the cover to life, and I can't wait to read it!

Children of Time finished now, that was a great read! I loved the first 3/4 of it when I started it about two years ago, but then put it down and forgot about it till now. Not a fault of the book, just of my frequently shifting attention.
It’s a fascinating world building tale.
Will definitely read the sequels at some point.
