Finished reading #AfricaRisen during my week off. A really solid anthology on #Africanfuturism and #Afrofuturism.

The Lady of the Yellow-Painted Library" by Tobi Ogundiran was my favourite story, in which -- allow me to copy the aptly summarised blurb -- a hapless salesman flees the librarian hell-bent on retrieving her lost library book. #AmReading #SFF #Books #Bookstodon

I struggled to commit to #FondaLee's #JadeCity, so I swapped it for the #AfricaRisen anthology and it's amazing right out of the gate. The second story by #WCDunlap is, as aptly described by the author, a "witchy reimagining of the March on Washington".

So many different moods/vibes/styles are showcased in this 32-story #ScienceFiction and #Fantasy collection. I recognized two authors & one narrator from elsewhere, but everyone else was a fun surprise. I suspect quite a few of these stories are (or will be) chapters of full-length books, because the worlds they describe are so complex & original —& I'd like to visit them again.
