Agapanthus Sweet Surprise brought from the RHS Bridgewater shop just up the road I have to pinch myself when I say that as I cannot believe it still even though its been there for the past 3 years now. #Agapanthus are great. I have heard they can be a challenge, if not invasive in certain parts if not kept in check… but these ones in #Brighton #Australia are stunning.
Snapped the other day, today is wet and cool (such is Melbs, even in summer!), so let’s spread some local cheer with these beauties!
They seem to be a hybrid, unless they’re turning colour late in their flowering cycle. Not sure.
But the two-toned white and purple appear rare from what I’ve seen this season.
Beautiful.

This garden bed full of #agapanthus was featured about a month ago when they were just starting to flower.
During this time, they’ve matured and fully bloomed with full vigour and are a delight to the eye.
They’re considered a noxious weed in some locales but if kept in check, these beauties become great features in any Aussie garden. I really like them.

#greentipforestlily, is native to South Africa. It grows to about 38 cm (15 in). This one has narrow, trumpet-shaped, orange and yellow flowers, tipped with green.
Up close they’re gorgeous. Delicate looking but their leaves are hearty and look similar to #agapanthus’

What a beautiful garden bed of #Cannacultivars - and oh so vibrant and red!!

These are located in a public park in #MountWaverley #Australia with a load of pink and white roses - and others such as deep purple #agapanthus.
I communed with them for quite a while admiring their colour and tiny detail such as the yellow markings in the centre. Zoom in and take a look.

Took this just now in #Oakleigh #Australia - they’re growing along a large bridge; both ends of the bridge ramps (and both sides of the road). They’re absolutely packed with these gorgeous plants!
The pics don’t give the depth and breadth, as the side I photographed was at least a 40 metre stretch. If I had to guess there must be thousands of these flowers in total, just displaying their brilliance this overcast evening.

I was fortunate to find this #agapanthus in white this time, to complement yesterday’s purple one.
This is almost at its prime bloom stage and it’s bedded amongst around 20 square-metres of fellow agapanthus’ - both colours!
I just love these, they take me back to carefree, simpler times 🙏💖

#agapanthus was a staple garden plant at home as a kid - both purple and white.
They’re a popular garden plant around the world, especially in Mediterranean climates. I remember seeing these in abundance in #Greece (#Crete) and throughout #Italy on previous travels and they’re a delight!
Observe the new buds in the centre of pic 1, they’ll open over the next week or two with the good weather now with us!
These are native to the Kwa-Zulu Natal and Western Cape provinces of South Africa.
