This weekend #Akamai turns 25 years old! We now have over 10,000 employees and hundreds of thousands of servers around the world serving hundreds of Terabits of content. It has been an amazing journey --- when I decided to take "a year or two off from my PhD" and joined we were just over a hundred employees. I've worked with lots of amazing people, many of whom have moved on and have done great things elsewhere. I look forward to all the fun challenges we get to solve in the coming years!

The #akamai acquisition of #linode is going great.

As of last week, I've been at #Akamai for 24 years! What made me feel particularly old was putting it in the context that Linux only pre-dated my start by 7 years, and the 8086 predated #Linux by only another 14 years. I was planning to only take a year or two off from my PhD program when I started at Akamai, but that turned into a much longer hiatus.

🤔 DNS data shows one in 10 organizations have #malware traffic on their networks. Nur es nehmen immer mehr diesen Dienst in Anspruch, was also jetzt den #Akamai Service mal genauer beleuchten lässt.

Denn ich bin in der letzten halben Stunde bei 8 Pressemitteilungen erstmal wegen #Akamai von meinem PiHole begrüßt worden, das es die Seite nicht durchreichen will und ich es erst "whitelisten" muss.

Da dies immer mehr große Webseiten machen, stell ich mir die Frage, wie ich damit umgehen soll.

Temporär für den Besuch einer Webseite (Presse, ect.) PiHole abschalten, den Anbieter #Akamai zulassen, denn ich werde beim Aufruf sonst mit "Webseite nicht erreichbar" begrüßt, einzeln zulassen oder anfangen Menschen zum offenen Protest zu überreden.

Laut Wiki ist dies ein Clouddienst, der versucht über Cloud-/Mirrorfunktion Content in der Nähe des abrufenden Besuchers anzubieten.

Mein PiHole schlägt da zurecht Alarm, da es als Drittanbieter einer Webpräsenz betrachtet wird.

Drittanbieter sind in der Lage, das Surfverhalten zu loggen, als wärs eigener Content. (1/2)
