We just happen to be more aware and been trying to sound the alarm for years. Alaska is the only arctic state and the only arctic city was overwhelmed with 4+ feet of snow over the last 10 days. Yes, there are many contributing factors to local muni failures, but 4+ feet in 10 days in southcentral Alaska isnt the norm.
