@Mark @ukuku pretty sure that MPG is not a top priority for the average #Porsche buyer. With their sporting heritage they couldn’t sacrifice performance on the altar of fuel economy.

If you look at the new #AlfaRomeo models, they are similarly “thirsty” compared to equivalent, more plebeian marques.

📷 In January 1990, I was changing my life, moving from #DC to #SF. I took a drive-away #AlfaRomeo convertible south then west. A lazy, two-week amble on back roads.

This picture is near Las Vegas, NM the day I drove from #Amarillo to #SanteFe. I left the car running and #TheB52s' "Roam" blasting while I snapped a few.

@bgluckman So this is by sales volume, but since #Stellantis in 🇺🇸 is basically #Dodge cars and #Ram trucks, with small volumes from #AlfaRomeo and #Fiat, it would be interesting if the average price of trucks allows Stellantis to maintain the lead in value. 🤔

The success of #Hyundai in particular is very obvious in my neighborhood, where the #Ioniq5 #EV is a new firm favorite, ahead of the #ID4 from #Volkswagen, or the #Kia #EV6. #Tesla still dominates massively.

@DenOfEarth @Mark @driveelectronic @i3roadtrip From what I’ve read previously, Tavares was seriously considering bringing #Peugeot back across the Atlantic, but after the creation of Stellantis #AlfaRomeo probably made more sense. The brand had already been brought back by FCA, and there isn’t really room for two, competing with #Audi, #BMW and #MercedesBenz.

@DenOfEarth @Mark @driveelectronic @i3roadtrip I really like what #Volvo is doing in the 🇺🇸. They are far more upmarket than they used to be, when they were clearly below #MercedesBenz, #BMW & #Audi in interior fit & finish.

I wouldn’t expect them to be real “drivers cars” though, in the same way as #AlfaRomeo or Audi. I could be wrong.

I see quite a few here in SoCal, but it’s being taken over by the Stelvio now, and probably the Tonale before long.

Still, #AlfaRomeo now sell more cars in 🇺🇸 than #Jaguar, even if the numbers are still rather small. The designs do seem compelling IMHO.

One other I thought worthy of mention is the #Peugeot508 hybrid but we won’t get that in 🇺🇸.
