“Well!” thought Alice to herself, “after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down #stairs! How brave they’ll all think me at home! Why, I wouldn’t say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house!”

Sometimes I wonder which is worse: #dementia which destroys the mind but leaves the body behind like a living shell or a disease like #MS which traps a living mind inside a dying body. Anyone who loves the Lewis Carroll books should definitely read Robert Douglas-Fairhurst’s book ‘The Story of Alice’. It’s brilliant. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/feb/05/robert-douglas-fairhurst-metamorphosis-a-life-in-pieces-oxford-multiple-sclerosis-ms-interview #LewisCarroll #MultipleSclerosis #AliceInWonderland

My submission for #FensterFreitag #WindowFriday are these stained glass windows depicting characters from #AliceInWonderland.
The windows were installed in All Saints' Church, in the village of Daresbury, England to commemorate the book's author, #LewisCarroll (Charles Dodgson) who was born in All Saints' Vicarage in 1832 when his father was the curate at the church.

The Chestnuts in Guildford is being renovated. The 1865 house is now Grade II listed. The Revd. Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) lived there during the holidays whilst during the academic term he was at Christchurch in Oxford. He died in the house on 14 January 1898. #AliceinWonderland #lewiscarroll #surrey #heritagebuildings

“Cheshire Puss,” she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. “Come, it’s pleased so far,” thought Alice, and she went on. “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.

The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: “No room! No room!” they cried out when they saw Alice coming. “There’s plenty of room!” said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table.

Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end? “I wonder how many miles I’ve fallen by this time?” she said aloud. “I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth.”
