Good evening, #blackmastodon. As members of #AlphaPhiAlpha Fraternity, Inc. celebrate their Founders Week, I introduce to you, Charles H. Chapman.

Jewel Chapman entered higher education and eventually became a Professor of Agriculture at what is now Florida A&M University.
Described as “a brother beloved in the bonds,” Chapman chartered FAMU’s Beta Nu Chapter. During the organization stages of the Alpha Chapter, he was the first chairman of the Committees on Initiation and Organization.

Good evening, #blackmastodon. As members of #AlphaPhiAlpha Fraternity, Inc. celebrate their Founders Week. Permit me to reacquaint with some and introduce to others Dr. Charles H. Wesley.

Jewel Callis became a practicing physician, Howard University Professor of Medicine, and prolific contributor to medical journals. Often regarded as the “philosopher of the founders” and a moving force in the Fraternity’s development, he was the only one of the “Cornell Seven” to become General President.

Hey hey, #blackmastadon! Hope your holiday season started off well. For the next seven days, I am highlighting the founders of the first African-American, collegiate fraternity, #AlphaPhiAlpha, of which I am a proud life member. From its beginnings as a social and support study group at Cornell University to the better making of men, Alpha stands true to its motto: “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.”
