@rysiek ehh, what you know, there's always an #AlternativeFrontend somewhere...
But to be honest I haven't read too much content from there, so I don't know if it has things like paywall in them

I’m a #fullstack #web #developer mostly using #ruby. I co-run the https://hotlinewebring.club webring.
I like non-dominant platforms and created the #AlternativeFrontend https://scribe.rip/ to help people move away from one centralized platform in particular.
I enjoy playing with #blender3d and cataloging #pixelart

If you want to check content on Twitter without opening the website, you can use an alternative frontend like Nitter (source).
If you want to be automatically redirected to a Nitter instance whenever you open a Twitter link, you can check out the libredirect browser extension. It can be configured to redirect to many alternative frontends besides Twitter (e.g. YouTube, Reddit, Google Translate, etc.).

Finally, there are tools to help you automatically redirect to an #AlternativeFrontend and learn about new ones. LibRedirect (https://libredirect.codeberg.page/) is what I currently use and recommend.
And that's what I have to say about alternative frontends! Thank you for coming to my thread talk.
I created the #AlternativeFrontend Scribe to help the internet move away from Medium. I also think it's a pretty nice reading experience. If you, like me, are occasionally forced to read articles on Medium, you can read them on Scribe instead!

Many different alternative frontends exist (big list here: https://github.com/mendel5/alternative-front-ends) and I'd like to point out some of my faves.
Nitter is an #AlternativeFrontend to Twitter. Instance list here: https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances
Invidious is an #AlternativeFrontend to YouTube. Instance list here: https://docs.invidious.io/instances/
I've found those services the most difficult to avoid, so these alternative frontends have been incredibly valuable.
Let’s talk about alternative frontends!
Think about centralized, proprietary platforms like Twitter or YouTube. Alternative frontends let you access that content without actually being on the platform. They are usually more protective of your privacy, a nicer experience, and help everyone transition away from centralization toward platforms that respect the user, like the fediverse!
