It's been suggested that the Fly (Rigging) System in the #OlympicTheatre was made from the Masts of the #French Warship ‘Ville de Paris’ (1764). The 104 gun Flagship was captured by the #British Fleet during the 1782 ‘Battle of the Saintes’ #AmericanRevolutionaryWar

Here's a #washwatercolour drawing by #18thcentury #disabled #Cumberland amateur artist, Christopher Machell (1747-1827), showing #ThorntonAbbey gatehouse in #Lincolnshire c.1785.
Machell lost an arm at the Battle of #BunkerHill near #Boston in 1775 during the #AmericanRevolutionaryWar. On many of his drawings you can see the pinholes used to secure the paper to a board so that he could work with one arm on the drawing.
