I have a very divided opinion on the #US. I think US politics create a lot of trouble, but I think ignorance, not malicious intention is the main reason. Sometimes, I wonder if I am prejudiced to think US-Americans are...not the smartest. Some do behave very stupid. On the other hand, of course the US has smart people. And most of the criticism I know that leveled against the US has been developed by...US-#Americans. So that's that. A few short stories:

Listening to the BBC R4 coverage of the #G7 at #Hiroshima, I was struck at how the city is presented as a symbol of the costs/horrors of war, and was mentioned as the site of the first #nuclear explosion (other than tests we must presume), but this was treated as if the bomb had appeared from nowhere;

we may all know this, but there is I think a need to acknowledge it was the #Americans who dropped the two Nbombs on Japan (and that subsequent analysis confirmed a #racist element to their use)!
