One of the giants of melodic death metal - Amon Amarth - have just released their latest video for the track "Oden Owns you all".
It's from their upcoming album "The Great Heathen Army".
Formed in 1993 in Sweden, they took their name form Tolkien's mythology - in Sindarin it is the name for Mount Doom.
Sometimes referred to as "Viking Metal", the band is insistent that they're more melodic death.
I really enjoy this video - especially watching the creation of a weapon by a blacksmith. As someone who also crafts kit for their LARP activities it's a pleasure to watch the process of creation. If I could I'd build a smithy in my home.
It's a great track, really showcasing the prowess of the band as musicians. Chunky and powerful rifts, some sweet double kicks on the drums and moments of virtuoso guitar playing.
Amon Amarth may not be breaking new ground sonically, but what they do they do very well.
This one is inspiration for heading out for a night of biffing with foam weapons and armour.
