Ever since coming across this photo, back in March 2020, I have always wondered who are the other men in the photo with my 3 x Great Uncle, George Alfred Dale, who is sitting down at the far left. #AncestryHour #Ancestry #WW1 #Genealogy

#AncestryHour - Any general tips for researching journalists in London from roughly 1920 to 1965? Very broad period, I know, but I am researching a gentleman who remained active politically (a Labour man) and journalistically until his death. #Genealogy

@cbgenealogy then I can pick your brain at a later stage as to who might be useful. 😉 #AncestryHour
@cbgenealogy also thanks for the links. No idea who I want to syphon dna from that could be useful but I'll grab one anyway. #AncestryHour

Update: I have found the baptisms for 3 of the 4 children born to my 3rd great-grandfather William Simpson and I have also found out that my 3rd great-grandfather's maiden name is, without a doubt, Buchanan. Thank you, Scotland's People, FreeBMD, Ancestry, and the GRO. #AncestryHour #Genealogy #FamilyHistory 18/?
#AncestryHour #genealogy #familyhistory
Next steps: 1. identify my great-grandmother Jane, from Scotland, who married my great-grandfather William Simpson, also from Scotland. There might be a Cummings connection in her tree. 2. go through all hypotheses from WATO (What Are The Odds) tool from DNA Painter that connect my mother to her potential grandparents in the Cummings family line. #AncestryHour #Genealogy #FamilyHistory 17/?

On MyHeritage I did an AutoCluster and found my 37 cM match from Gedmatch but sadly he had no other members in his cluster so wasn't included in the chart. We'll see if more people sign up later. #AncestryHour #FamilyHistory #Genealogy 16/?
#AncestryHour #familyhistory #genealogy
On Ancestry there was on 27 cM match to Cummings which I'd initially thought a bit too low, but I'd written down the name anyway. When I went to Gedmatch none of my Ancestry matches to Cummings were there, except the 27 cM match which turned out to have 37 cM on Gedmatch. I did a One to Many for him on Gedmatch but nothing useful. #AncestryHour #FamilyHistory #Genealogy 15/?

The possible grandparent matches for my mother come from East and Middle Rainton which do not exist any more but used to be small hamlets near Sunderland, County Durham. I'm familiar with the area so it will be not too bad for me to look into the possible connections between my known family in the Sunderland environs and the Cummings family. Maybe compare locations, addresses, etc. #AncestryHour #FamilyHistory #Genealogy 14/?
