... less than a minute before they're about to hit us. They grudgingly pick up anchor, nearly reversing into us in the process and finally find a more sensible spot in the ample space available.
This is why nobody likes charter boats. It's okay to misjudge it, we all do sometimes. But it's not okay to be an asshole about it. Just pick it up and try again. Maybe even take advice from those who've been living it for years.

Hoping for an uneventful night. Already dragged anchor for dinner, lots of #AnchorTV and one boat dropping theirs far too close and nearly tangling our chain.
Weather models disagree vastly, which is never a good thing. Currently ENE gusting into mid 30s (knots). Might do a 180 in the night 🤪
Oh, reason we dragged: The bottom is plate rock with thin sand patches. I surfed anchor until finding a good crevice, but if it turns we best be going.
Swapped our #AnchorTV stories with the neighbours, one of whom works on the beach here as kitesurfing instructor (while his boat and partner are bouncing around at anchor all day).
Apparently #Kitesurfing occasionally features people getting dragged face down in the sand along the beach, careening into other people until they get entangled in another kites lines and come to a rest.
It doesn't exactly make me want to try. I think windsurfing is maybe more my age. :think_bread:
Still windy. Couple charter boats came, tried to anchor, dragged, left. One managed to pick up their chain so slowly they caught a neighbour's chain, got entangled and crashed into his bow.
Panicked motoring made things only worse, so got my goggles and fins on to help.
Told them where to drive and got the tangle cleared, only for more furious motoring to catch it again! Second time they listened.
Destroyed bow roller, gashes in the charter hull, both crews upset.
Wind gusting over 30 knots and lots of #AnchorTV
One Hallberg- Rassy dragged close to two other boats. The couple aboard struggled holding the boat and picking up the anchor, but eventually got it. After another failed attempt at anchoring, they left.
A charter boat anchored in front of everyone with too little chain and now everyone is nervous, some idling engines, some leaving.
We moved away to the deep side in 17m with 72m of chain out. Less drama, we hope.

Trouble with anchoring? Just drive the boat into the beach to stop!

Ugh, #AnchorTV is bad today.
Two French motorboats anchored way too close to us and even closer to each other. I want steel spikes, not fenders.
Despite this, a charter boat goes between us at full speed (French shouting ensues).
Unflagged ketch motors right up to the beach and then drops anchor a few meters from the shore, ignoring angry shouting from swimmers and people ashore. After half an hour, they leave again, likely due to threats to call the Guardia Costiera.
