A #Hellenistic/#Roman-period glass bowl in beautiful striped colour, creating a spiral of blue, yellow & white down into the bottom of the vessel. It was made around 2150 years ago but it doesn't look its age! #Archaeology #AncientGlass

A gorgeous #Roman glass bowl, made from amber-coloured glass. It has survived in beautiful condition and despite being around 2000 years old, would probably not look out of place in a home today! #AncientGlass #RomanArchaeology (📷 Sotheby's)

A #Roman blue glass bottle with a body in the shape of a shell. It was made some 1900+ years ago, & was probably used to hold perfume by its lucky original owner(s) #RomanArchaeology #AncientGlass

RT @DrJEBall: A beautiful #Hellenistic or #Roman glass bowl, with a colourful cane-formed pattern in blue, purple, & green, with black & white stripes along the rim. It was made between 200-100BC in the eastern Mediterranean - looking good for a 2000+ year old piece of crockery! #AncientGlass
