Ancient Egyptian Dolls?

Have you heard of execration rituals? Most people haven’t. But many have heard of „voodoo dolls“.

In this ritual was performed to ensure enemies weren’t able to do harm.

Protective for the practice – Prayer to Selene for any

In many rituals the practitioner needed a protective amulet for themself while conducting the ritual.

The layout of this ritual manual is regular, the handwriting neat and clean, and the coloring of the ink is very even, all signs of a practiced scribe.

The papyrus PGM XIa was inscribed on the back of an dated to July 336 AD.

This is why we know that the magical text can be dated to the late 1st half of the 4th century at the earliest.

The handwriting adds more insight and the text is dated to the 4th/5th century.
