Everything filling up with plants this is time I find little difficult if there alot of rain in weather. To keep plants with covers off or back on again knowing I need to keep air circulating to stop plants from picking up to much humid moisture on them. All a balancing act these next couple of weeks fingers crossed most of them make it. #gardening #garden #gardeningmastodon #summerplants #summerbeddingplants #annuals

Planning the #garden ... #perennials and #annuals. Looks like I should have started earlier. #Spring always comes so fast!

The good old fashioned florist's #primulas have changed a bit since I used to buy them back in the 1980's from our local market stall. The intricacies and #colours look more like an impressionist painting than a flower nowadays.
Either way, I can never keep the preened and cosseted things from one year to the next. They sometimes die quicker.
Too much water and they rot. Too little water and they dessicate like a dead sea scroll infront of your eyes.
They work out as very expensive #annuals.
Last week's excitement was the first seeds of 2023 germinating - sweet peas. So one of those gorgeous summer stars seemed the perfect choice for today's Cheering Up Mondays flower.
This was part of my Gardening Trials a couple of years ago. Read more about it on my blog: https://thechattygardener.com/cheering-up-mondays/cheering-up-mondays-356/

Annuals Cerinthe major 'Purpurascens' and Eschscholzia 'Ivory Castle', in the garden.
The Eschscholzia (Californian Poppy) is more yellow than I was expecting, but it's so pretty, I'm not complaining. The #Bees were all over these plants; such a warm hum when you pass by them.
The Cerinthe make a good cut flower that hang over in a pleasing hook-shaped manner.
