@danyork @jornane @tqbf @dalias Sadly no, availability in (and other similar countries) will still remain garbage anyway.

The issue with is one of widespread infrastructural neglect, rather than only software. With said neglect being propped up by and , depending on where you are.

revival and active stamping down on practices is necessary for IPv6 to succeed in those countries.

No, the charge controller is typically internal to the laptop (or the battery module, depends).

Any compatible input has to go through it, so your input source is entirely disposable and replaceable with anything providing a compatible electrical interface.

A whole lot less prone to being lost or damaged, unlike a smart cable or wall-wart.

Vendor lock-in is a very Apple sort of value-added proposition.

They like and shenanigans.

@whistl034 @TechNews Particularly since the only places where they improved are those where they failed to implement deals & had to deal with competition.

@drwho Yeah, deals seem awfully common in .

Here we simply have an with all competitors having to use their infrastructure (because the government is too idiotic to realize public infrastructure is a basic requirement where natural are concerned), stifling competition in a different way instead.

@shoq @ELS The current practices rampant across industries are responsible for much of this.

It got lot worse since got crippled, but that sort of malice subsisted even before albeit in a more constrained form that more rarely crossed between industries.

@shoq The system was designed from the very start to protect megacorps and guilds.

Patents are also fundamentally based in the myth of the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroic_t which is fundamentally incompatible with the reality of parallel invention or multiple discovery.

@thehomespundays @shoq That'd be one major concern. You can forget doing that in and most of .

The & bullshit means that such nonsense as are still a thing.

Not to mention that thanks to those same business practices, the is undermaintained and largely obsolete, so even without datacaps it wouldn't work well.
