There may or may not be as many deaths in the acute phases [depends on how many are weakened from the previous waves, etc -- remember we killed off several million already, the survivors may need to be weakened some more to succumb in the acute phase]

What we will see is increased deaths/disability all around that will be attributed to #AnythingButCovid

COVID evolving past RAT detection + more asymptomatic infections?

All things being equal, asymptomatic cases or cases that elude RATs (at least the initial round) will cause more transmission as we have resumed 'normal' now, except for the COVID-careful.

This would favor these variants over others that get detected by RATs or cause acute infection symptoms.

Unfortunately, acute symptoms are no predictor of degree of internal damage and future lifespan reducing issues with strokes, liver, brain, kidneys, etc

But they do allow minimizers/deniers to further ignore the catastrophe and blame
#AnythingButCovid for the increased deaths and #lifespan reduction

Dangerous times indeed!

It also means that the case/hospitalization numbers may be even more understated than ever (20x, 25x?)

I think your media needs some tips from the West and the rest of the world on how to disappear a pandemic.

It can be summed up as #AnythingButCovid. There will be mysterious deaths, and illnesses, but with reduced testing, delayed deaths, it's easy to pin it on anything else, like the flu, or not exercising, personal failures, etc.
