Reminder: #AoIR (Association of Internet Researchers) Executive Committee Nominations open 11 March. There was real interest in (re)shaping the organisation at #AoIR2022, which will likely carry to #AoIR2023; the most direct way to shape AoIR is stepping up to a leadership role! Details: http://listserv.aoir.org/pipermail/air-l-aoir.org/2023-February/045365.html
I, as well as the current serving Exec, are all happy to chat about what our experiences of the various roles we currently occupy.
Feels poetic that the new laptop that just arrived to replace to one stolen en route to #aoir2022 now has the sticker I received at the conf. I'm actually very proud that I never let it bring my spirits down whilst in Dublin. Closure 😌💞
I’d forgotten how stimulating and refreshing it can be to spend a week at a conference just listening & talking…and not constantly on email or in meetings.
But it has taken me this entire week to recover from #AoIR2022. I feel so far behind on things and had so many meetings with students stacked up….
I just got over my jet lag and now I’m just as exhausted.

I totally missed this release of Communication+1's newest issue with all kinds of #mediatheory https://scholarworks.umass.edu/cpo/. Glad I met Zachary McDowell at #AoIR2022 to tell me about it.
Back in the office and my #AoIR2022 conference badge has joined badges and lanyards from AoIRs past on the wall. ❤️
Don’t get me wrong, although it hurts to admit as a self-proclaimed ~critical social media scholar, I still find the process of leaving the bird app to be upsetting and unsettling - letting go of part of your internet memory, community and identity is never easy. And yet perhaps #TwitterMigration is the kind of discomfort we need to learn to deal with (right #AoIR2022 ?)if we want to have better, more just communication tools. Curious to see how that goes.
Hey #aoir2022, before you go! I am a big fan of collaborative reading lists and saw some great papers at the conference that I hope will make there way onto the two that I curate. So please use, share and add your work! 📚✨️

First day back in Germany for the rest of my time as Gastwissenschafter at IMWK Uni Augsburg after my first ever #aoir2022. Still processing everything I learned. What a humbling and fantastic experience. Thanks to everyone who organised and presented.
I'm in transit through Dubai on my way home to Brisbane after a long and very enjoyable time at the #AoIR2022 conference. Very much looking forward to cuddling my wife and girls, having some good coffee, avocado on toast, and sleeping in my own bed. Also keen to see how my hops and chilli plants are going, and the beer I left fermenting while I was away.

For people in Scandinavia wanting to do a cool PhD on digital surveillance by authorities, Gothenburg is a really cool place to work in with good people!

An amazing place for #AoIR2022 to conclude with more talk about research and life these intense days in Dublin #GuinnessStorehouse
Just departed the final #AoIR2022 event, a party at the Guinness Storehouse. Bittersweet moment... wonderful to see so many old friends and new ones after 3 years online. So many inspiring talks and exciting ideas to process. But now I can't wait to get home and see my family.
So, do I understand Mastodon correctly that whomever runs a server is basically on the hook for content moderation and also likely liable for any harms that might occur? If so, I’m not so sure a suggestion at #AoIR2022 AGM is in the best interest of the association.
