I was at Camp Durant the week of Apollo 11 in 1969. The Boy Scout Camp had no TVs or radios. I had decided to smuggle my 13" Motorola Cadet B&W to camp that year.

@languagefan everyone has at least one thing in their life that is nifty about them that they have no control over, and as I watch the #Artemis footage, I’m reminded of mine:

My uncle wrote the code that landed #NASA ‘s #Apollo11 lunar module. The last…6? 8? minutes of descent and actual touchdown.

The engineers treated the code like relay race, each coder taking a leg. My uncle happened to get the last leg.

After seeing the Earth from the moon, Neil Armstrong said it changed his perception of humanity. Before there were arbitrary divisions and strife, but afterwards he only saw one people, all losers who hadn't been on the moon ever.
