This is always amusing to me, chairs lined up along the parade route the day before, here in these photos for tomorrow's 4th of July parade in Aptos.

This is such a small community that generally one can expect that the chairs will be there the next day.

The Aptos 4th of July parade is billed as the "World's Shortest Parade" at 1/2 mile long. It's pretty standard small town Americana with marching dog clubs, school groups, classic cars and hot rods, and usually a local politician or two. Being a farm area, there will be tractors pulling wagons or flat bed trailers decked out in bunting with some group or another waving at the crowds.

Even though it may be the World's Shortest Parade in distance, it can seem to take forever for all of the parade participants to wind their way down the parade route.

It's amusing and worth seeing every now and then.

#Tornadoes Possible on the #MontereyBay Coast, #SFChronicle, today,

"San Francisco Chronicle Meteorologist Gerry Díaz said cities and towns along Highway 1 in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties could see thunderstorms capable of producing small hail and gusts of 35 mph that could form into tornadoes of 100 yards in length, lasting a few minutes.

'The areas with the highest risk of seeing brief tornadoes are cities right along Highway 1 in Monterey Bay, including Capitola, Santa Cruz, Aptos and Davenport. Other parts of the coast will also have a brief chance for tornadoes.'”

#Aptos Creek at #Seacliff Beach on Boxing Day. Across the Monterey Bay lay Monterey and Pacific Grove where the Santa Lucia Mountains meet the #ocean on the right.

It's interesting how much the creek changes in the way it reaches the bay and usually winding toward the south along the coast as seen here. The storms this week will act like an Etch A Sketch smoothing the sand. The creek's mouth will flow straight for a time from the rain swell, and then slowly angle along the coast once more.
