I was reading articles (not found on Mastodon) about that which explained that trying to connect w/ people on larger instances did not always work & that the branded Mastodon app was not the best. I’m on an iPhone so IOS. But even if the tech issues are solved the lack of an equivalent to #ArabTwitter & #BlackTwitter here remains. I communicate w/ people in SWANA too who aren’t here. Nor are Arab Americans.

@Soozcat @iBlame @zoomar I’ve been here for wks & really don’t like it. Twitter has a lot of people & organizations from Arabic speaking countries & African countries & #ArabTwitter consisting of Arab Americans also. #BlackTwitter also. Having absurd tech issues w/ Mastodon on my iPhone. Can’t search/contact many people. Couldn’t see my replies w/o searching myself first (vs directly from my profile). I’m seeing few posts in my slow feed. No translate feature etc.

@iBlame @Soozcat @zoomar I’m about to leave after being here for wks. For some reason - the app not working w/ my iPhone etc - I’m experiencing a lot of tech issues. Can’t search or follow people on certain instances other than mine. When I do find someone on another instance & am asked to log in w/ my info the field for that is cut off on my phone so it’s impossible. There’s no equivalent to #ArabTwitter or #BlackTwitter here yet. There’s no translation etc.

@samir_ I wonder why when I searched the hashtag #ArabTwitter nothing showed up. Despite you posted it in a comment & I did also in the same thread. (It may just be for me. I joined four days ago & Mastodon has been so glitchy for me I may have to use another app. E.g. I can sometimes only see my own posts & replies in my timeline if I enter my home page via search page searching myself. Even when I know someone’s address a search for them turns up nothing. Like this on & off).
