The harbour in the ancient town of Arbroath in Angus. There seems to have been a port of some sort here in Pictish times and later the town's abbey was the birthplace of the most important document in Scottish history. The beautiful, and surprisingly extensive, remains of Arbroath Abbey in the heart of Arbroath in Angus. The abbey was founded in 1178 by King William I for a group of Tironensian monks previously resident at Kelso Abbey. The Battle of Arbroath was fought between supporters of the Ogilvy and Lindsay families over claims on the administrative control of Arbroath Abbey on 24 January 1446 (or 1445). 600 are said to have been killed. #OnThisDay 1921 goods guard Alexander Gouick died nr #Arbroath, #Scotland.
Gouick saw some wagons running away down a gradient. He tried to sprag them with a fence post; it swung round & knocked him over the rails; he was run over.

Well, it won't be long until our new studio in #Arbroath opens its doors in #december.
