RT by @thegrugq: An extraordinary c. 500,000-300,00 year-old Acheulean handaxe knapped around a fossil shell. The shell’s central display suggests an aesthetic intention by the toolmaker. From West Tofts, Norfolk.

About 1,000 years ago, this beautifully carved ‘tables’ game was smashed up with an axe and thrown into Gloucester Castle’s rubbish pit!😳 Excavated in 1983, it’s the world’s oldest surviving complete tables set.
