Former Greens MP, Gareth Hughes, writing in Stuff (8/4/23) makes an astute observation about #Ardern - while stupendous in event-based crises, she was incrementalist (even conservative) in addressing systemic crises.

Arguably, her biggest misstep was ruling out a CGT - a tax (that at $4B+ pa) would’ve significantly helped fund critical infrastructure, tackle economic inequality & re-balance a tax system overly reliant on taxing income (we’re still the only OECD member without some form of CGT).

I would just like to note that the voices calling the retiring PM "divisive" are the coming from the exact same squalid people who set out to divide the country themselves.

Warum eigentlich kriegt Frau #Ardern die Kurve so intelligent, charmant, emotional, klug und vor allem rechtzeitig, während in den meisten anderen Ländern das Oberhaupt derart am Stuhl klebt, dass da nur Druck von außen hilft?
