A more diverse cast and writing team brought to life this long-awaited continuation of the 1993-2001 set of limited-run TV series based on Armistead Maupin's novels.
Maupin's stories dealt with a mix of gay, lesbian, bi, trans, straight and cis characters who formed a family of choice while living in a house in San Francisco.
In the revival, whose plot was original to the Netflix series, all new trans roles were cast with trans or enby actors and there was greater racial diversity than in the earlier TV incarnations.
