Why must people touch things? Just don't touch it? Is it that hard? What about this do you not understand? What were you trying to achieve by tapping it? Clearly, money enough to be invited to such an event buys neither class (in the sense of good manners) nor intelligence.

I'm not particularly precious in terms of art. But these are still items crafted by people for the enjoyment (ostensibly) of all. It takes a certain, special kind of privilege to expect yourself above the prohibitions in place that allow for the continued enjoyment of art. I know those protections are there to reinforce private property, but the line does blur a little with art. And the effect is nonetheless the same. Respect is thing, right?
