There is probably no other band I associate that much with a certain period of my early youth -- and all the nonsense we did -- like #TyrannosaurusRex : the sheer joyfulness, the craziness, the unhinged fantasy.

Probably the most successful prog band from Italy were Premiata Forneria Marconi, or #PFM. Assisted by King Crimson and ELP lyricist Peter Sinfield, they recorded their early songs both in Italian and English and were one of the earliest Italian rock bands (some say the first) to tour the US.

Still very impressive what #PinkFloyd accomplished as early as the late sixties -- if you want to understand why they were THAT important for progressive rock, you need to listen to #Ummagumma. Probably the only other band that far ahead of their time were #KingCrimson.
