304 followers · 449 posts · Server musicians.todayI almost always record rehearsals. After, I copy .wavs from my Zoom recorder to PC, use #Audacity to clip individual songs, provide some basic EQ and compression, and then mp3 them for my commute.
Comp and EQ especially are very hit or miss; you gotta apply and then test, undo, tweak, repeat.
Why not just put the whole track in #Reaper, tweak settings as it plays until I like the result, and then queue up mp3 renders for each song and do the rehearsal en masse?
No good reason, it turns out.

Of late, I've been ripping whatever is in the vinyl collection that isn't already in the digital collection. It is quite a lot, actually, but I am really enjoying revisiting these records. I'm thinking about switching to Reaper for recording the podcast. I've been using Audacity for years, but since I'm getting a new PC I might as well upgrade my software at the same time. Have you used Reaper? What do you think about it vs. Audacity? Or do you have a different recommendation for recording/editing audio?
