The creation of audio plugins has hit a new phase. It used to be developers were racing to roll out the best compressors, reverbs, delays, EQs, etc. But now they've all done that, and successfully, too. The new developers are not competing on those fronts. Instead they are exploring offbeat sound design -- distortion/saturation, audio destruction, tape emulation, and so on. They're developing weird stuff that can jump-start or re-route your thinking in the studio. This one (it's just two guys as far as I know) might be my favorite:

I use all four of their plugins and they're great (and affordable, too). I like them so much I feel like I'm giving away a secret here... but that's what #Musodon is for, I think.

I just discovered that a Linux synth plugin that I had written off because of its outdated GTK2 GUI support— AMSynth —has been updated and now supports HIDPI. I’m going to have to revisit that plugin and see if there has been any improvements since the last time I used it. 😎

tldr it makes an EQ reference for any given input to match your song or track to it which is neat and handy if you're like me and have no monitors or $2,500 pairs of reference headphones and so on
