This is a Folio from a 'Baramasa' or 12 Month, depicting the month of 'Baishakhi' which corresponds to April.

Artist Mir Kalan Khan, like many other Mughal artists, worked in a style that appears quite electic. The young, indecisive couple who appear is being entertained by a more down to earth female musician.
The trees look , in a strange yellow background.

Nevertheless, the artist has managed to create a lively painting using Birds & Animals.

This is on paper, heightened with Gold.

Provincial Mughal school of art is similar to the Mughal style of paintings. They were not produced in the Imperial capitals but in provinces ruled by them. Local beliefs & traditions had a strong influence on these .

He was a Draftsman at the Superintending Engineer of the Presidency & Oudh Company.

As Winters set in, Migratory Birds flock .
All Sanctuaries in & around are now fully settled by birds from etc.
Here, in this c1760 AD Provincial Painting, perhaps from or 'Maidens with Female Attendants Watch the Approach of Geese'.
This was on Bonhams sale of 7th June 2022, (unsold), estimated £7,000 - £10,000.

A lovely c1775 AD Provincial of 'A Maiden Receiving a Sadhu (medicant) in a Palace Courtyard'.
(Probably made at or in the region of ).
This painting was in Bonhams online sale of 28th October 2022 and was estimated at £2,000 to £3,000. However, it remained unsold.
