My family arrived in Canada in 1979, and at the time the Toronto Maple Leafs were an exiting team (if underperforming), with Mike Palmateer in goal, and the forward trio of Darryl Sittler, Lanny Macdonald (that moustache!), and Tiger Williams (damn good hockey player, according to the song by the CeeDees: https://youtu.be/dwG8JU0BchI). Not to mention, Roger Nielsen (“Captain Video”) behind the bench.

But, as a Scandianvian kid who loved European hockey, *the* star was Börje Salming.

Watching this tribute to one of my all-time favourites made me cry.
