Played a game of Blades in the Dark #BitD with my partner yesterday evening (their first time). They enjoyed it a lot more than #DnD or #PF1e. Why? Because character creation is simple (she hates the pressure of having to build a 'perfect' character) and you plunge straight into the action, without having to worry about minutiae like spell slots or hit points. She's up for another game!

Because it was just the two of us, we played GM-less, using the oracle mechanic from the Alone in the Dark 3rd party supplement for BitD #solo play. I'd never used an oracle before, but it was fun and worked really well!

@ai6yr Dead and, AFAIK, "burned up" on re-entry some time ago. IIRC, AO-10 never made its intended Molniya orbit but was quite serviceable just the same. I think I made at least 1 QSO through it at #W5YM #BITD. Made dozens through AO-13, its follow-on, at my alma mater. Great fun but you needed a real satellite array!

My #ttrpg new years resolutions for 2023:

* Play more Blades in the Dark #BITD and GM a game myself. I've done four scores so far and I just absolutely love this game.
* Run a game of #SIGMATA as a GMPC and punch fascists as a radio-powered cyborg.
* #Write a game module. I've been wanting to do this forever but I keep making it too big (fancy layout, artwork, etc.). I'm going to try and just write it first, and go from there. Probably using Pathfinder 2e #pf2e or Slayers.
* I've never done a solo/journaling #rpg but I feel i should try one. I've been eyeballing Thousand Year Old Vampire, also because the book looks so nice!

@wx1g #WBOS was, when I was there late 80s, *country* ...The other 2 aren't ringing bells. #WFNX was the "Alternative" station #BITD. Sad how radio has deteriorated in many places - hope the Boston market is holding on!

Anyone have any great low-prep/collaborative GM tips like Blades in the Dark faction clocks? I don't want to "write a story" but things like faction clocks give me threads to pull on whenever to keep a cohesive story together. Anybody got anything like that?

Asking because I'm starting a new game in 13th age after running Abomination Vaults in #Pathfinder 2e. I enjoy how 13A has a lot of narrative features and seems to even endorse a PBTA-style game where the players and GM work together on the story rather than having the GM do everything.

Preparing sessions for both Descent into Avernus and The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. Yet, Blades in the Dark is also still claiming some space in the back of my mind… Maybe I’m suffering from RPG overload. Adding yet another campaign would be a bit much. 😅

сегодня была просто отличная партия. давно я не хотел так ворваться в пати с криками "отлично-отлично! давайте! вперёд!" аж НПЦ подготовил под это дело. но начинающие Душегубы сами молодцы.

Сегодня игроки вернулись в Досквол и завершили большой кусок сюжета. Банда теней развалилась, но всё что случилось в Доскволе - остается в Доскволе. Поэтому теперь в трущобах есть анклав феек, клевый бар на Шелковом берегу, etc
