The BSA acknowledge the right to freedom of speech as well as the need to balance this against the right of vulnerable communities such as gender minorities to be free from discrimination. Guidance includes:
- Discrimination and denigration as it relates to trans people
- Misgendering and deadnaming
- Inclusive language
- Complaints relying on transphobic stereotypes

Excellent news from NZ #BroadcastingStandardsAuthority #BSA has issued new guidance for complainants and broadcasters in response to complaints about TV and radio coverage of #GenderIdentity issues.
Inclusive language won't be grounds for a complaint and the BSA may decline to hear complaints relying on #transphobic #stereotypes.
