Hopefully in a few weeks I can afford the fuel and #spoons for the 130km round trip to get back on my meds.

When you live in a fog of pain, disability and malnutrition things get a little harder to see.

Just finished my Telehealth appointment as per previous toots, too unwell to go in person.

Whilst my GP has done his best to accommodate me, I can no longer afford medical care.

Many others like me are now foregoing medical/mental health.

Go on #DSP to stabilise health - can’t afford to survive on social security - try & fail in finding work - deteriorates further. This merry go round is fvcking exhausting.

Convinced something is wrong with my prescription contact lens.

Peripheral vestibular dysfunction has been on another level for a few weeks now.

Today getting a haircut, even though seated with point stick between legs - it took everything to balance and not sway.

Yes it could be lack of adequate nutrition and increased stress.

Need to save before I can get to the optometrist though.

Huge thanks to hairdresser who didn’t make me suffer the indignity of showing my DSP card.

Even so, it is incredibly difficult to afford a haircut when you are living on $12.64 a day.

So best to get it all off and cut down visits.

Hi #Centrelink so after spending quite some time on hold I finally spoke to a real person regarding my #DSP payment.

I told the operator politely and calmly that I have no clients/income for three months because as a tutor my clients are on holidays.

You then hung up on me.

Those on welfare are expected to attend job interviews, provider meetings, work for the dole placements etc all in person while having no access to any COVID mitigations or protections. Meanwhile there's no longer the increased payments above the poverty line that was introduced at the height of lockdowns. Everything is 'back to normal' including policies that punish people with poverty.
What do we know about the pandemic? It impacted poor people, Indigenous people, disabled people and migrants much more than those with money.
Many on Jobseeker have long term disabilities but don't qualify for the Disability Pension due to how restrictive the criteria are. Vulnerable people thrown to the market wolves.
Paul Kelly and the ALP government have signalled even more of this moving forward. Shameful stuff
