When 7-month-old daughter “reads” her book Beastly Babies, which is paired photographs of the faces of babies and animals with similar expressions, it’s always the babies’ faces that fascinate her

But in real life, she shows no interest whatsoever in other babies—or even much awareness of them—but extraordinary interest in our dog (who, it must be acknowledged, is indeed a fascinating creature)
