I finally got #opa working with #backstage to set up permissions and wrap it around the permissions framework. It took a few months (mostly doing it in my spare time when I had it) and many..many times I went through the "I'm not smart enough" and "it's just not possible to do" phases 😅

I am looking forward to writing something up about it and sharing it with anyone interested :blobfoxheartcute:

Did you know, if you want to be super strict with your entity metadata in #backstage you can use the power of #opa to nag people to put it right :ablobfoxbongo:? Something I've been playing around with!

I am giving a small tech talk on May 10th about using #OPA as a wrapper around the #Backstage permissions framework and I am terrified 🙃

And I’m pretty sure that #backstage isn’t something you should just yeet over to the dev tools team. It needs to be integrated with how the org things about operations, deployment, releasing and resiliency in general.

Well that was a weird conversation that again showed me that people using the term #observability really mean metrics and logs. To me, a platform like #backstage is an essential #observability tool, since it gives you visibility across systems and the ability to explore. Add workflows to improve #reliability as well.
