Or the Velvet Underground album "Squeeze", where the only actual band member present - Doug Yule - was marginal in the first place. Whether it was really that band depended on perspective.

Fucked over at every turn (the band’s biography is a music biz horror thriller), Badfinger nevertheless made a handful of fine LP, anchored by three solid singer-songwriters in Pete Ham, Tom Evans, and Joey Molland. Ham, the major genius of the three, makes his mark for the ages with “Baby Blue” and “Day After Day.” Production by Todd and George Harrison still sounds fresh and undated.
