Baja doesn’t have much infrastructure as is, with most of the peninsula without enough fresh water to sustain growth outside of the already established villages and cities. Hurricane Hilary is a significant threat to its vulnerable, beautiful communities - keep an eye on them, because I’m sure socal will get all the attention from the news cycles.

Summer of 1972, the #Stanford Field #Geology course was supposed to go to #Baja, but we started out in California's Transverse Ranges because we didn't hear from our Mexico contact. But right after we set up camp the call came, so we did an abbreviated mapping tour and came home to finish the reports before heading back out to the border to begin was ended up to be an adventure of EPIC proportion. Let's just say none of our vehicles came back fully intact.

@cautionwip I had the extreme privilege of spending a summer in #Australia in the late 80s. I consider that the peak of my international travel experiences. I got to see a good deal of the eastern provinces and the Great Barrier Reef.

Most recently I was in #Baja #BCS #Mexico early in the pandemic. I was very worried about getting trapped outside Canada.
