Well, turns out I *almost* had enough skewers. I'll need to top up a couple of sections with some more this coming week, but for the most part, this is my vision for the project. Time for it to go sit in the kitchen for some UAT (user acceptance testing, or: my housemates shouting at me because my latest gadget or idea made using the kitchen harder). The printed parts are stuck together with a bit of JB Weld epoxy, because I happened to spot some while out today. #3dprinting #bambulab
This week's mini-project is a giant knife block for the kitchen. This is a 2-parter made from burgundy PLA-CF and black PET-CF - these are exotic choices, but the truth is I got both for free, I really liked the dark red for the kitchen, and I didn't have a plainer black on hand. The whole thing is under 1kg and you could easily make this from a single spool of PLA instead.
I'll share the STLs once the filler has arrived and I've verified this was actually a good idea.
My first flexible TPU-95A print is a hilarious failure for a totally unexpected reason - it's meant to be a doorstop that slides onto the white bit on the right, but instead I told my modelling software the diameter was a radius and I didn't catch the fact it was 2x the width it should be until I was pulling the completed print off the printer. Try again tomorrow, I guess?
Does anyone have a experience with #BambuLab 3D printers? I currently have a Prusa MK3S+ but like the speed, enclosure and less DIY attitude of the X1 Carbon. On the other hand, their support seems terrible for those who have a defective machine.
Sure, what happened with the #bambulab printers isn’t good, but I wonder why everyone leaves the machine on while not using it? Especially all the ones that keep complaining about that they don’t trust closed source software or closed ecosystems? Which I find bullshit anyway, closed ecosystems offer a lot of advantage trading in freedom, but why get mad at that, just don’t buy the product if you don’t want to make that concession. #foss
I like to build my own furniture. Where possible I use Blum hinges and other items from their ecosystem, only their push to open brackets didn’t fit my needs. So, on to #Fusion360 again, make a prototype on the #BambuLab , do some adjustments and print the final product #3DPrinting . It’s nice to have the ability to make parts you otherwise couldn’t get. @3dprinting

@3dprinting 9/10 times my prints don't have any small details, so the added speed is well worth the decline in detail. The #Bambulab X1c makes changing the nozzle (whole assembly) a matter of < 5 minutes, so changing it isn't a problem.
For now my printer is printing fine again… but all that tinkering after I didn’t use it for a week and it worked perfectly fine before just gets annoying. #ender3 #3dprinting #BambuLab

while the spacer adapter approach works as a minimum viable product most of the time, I also did make the spool winder that every #BambuLab owner will probably inevitably finds themself needing once they do enough #3DPrinting

taking advantage of needing to make another spoolless Inland filament adapter for a #BambuLab spool to upload the design to printables.

Forgive me for I have sinned.
3D printer update.. Bambu lab X1 Carbon.. awesome machine.. getting ready for first test print.. #3d #3dprinter #BambuLab

WildRoseBuilds did a really nice job comparing the #FLSUN V400 to the #BambuLab P1P.
From an #OSS perspective, I have a real hard time with how Bambu Lab has managed hardware and software. It looks like a fine printer that is likely bad for the hobby.
The V400 looks like a viable alternative that's a little more $ but has a much better OSS profile. There is good potential for it to become even better over time with community support and contribution.

Hmm not bad for a quick print.
Some interesting points here. I couldn't see any really compelling reasons to get a Prusa over a Bambu. So I didn't.
Alright #BambuLab P1P on the way. Once again ignoring everyone who told me to get a Prusa 🤩
Hopefully I'll finally find #3DPrinting fun, instead of massively frustrating. Sure I'll still find something to complain about though..
