Remember, the electricity from a fuel cell is difficult to control, since the fuel cell’s reaction rate isn’t considered entirely smooth. Plug-in hydrogen hybrids may become attractive, but in all likeliness only where full #BEVs are not an option, if you ask me

Solar and battery system installed. 4kw solar, 5.2kwh battery.
Not fully commissioned until Monday.
But currently discharging battery and only drawing a little over 40w from the grid.

142 followers · 43 posts · Server mastodonapp.ukBit of a follow up on my earlier 'toot' about #energyusage. The #OctopusGo tariff is 12p/kWhr between 0300 and 0430 and 44p otherwise. So I set my #batterystorage and #PHEV car to fill up during that time. I then run the house off batteries for 24 hours, pulling from the grid if need be (max battery output 3kW). If the forecast is sunny, I reduce the overnight fill for the batteries (guesswork) as the #solarPV will top up during the day.

Loving the combination of #solarPV #batterystorage and #OctopusGO tariff. Filled the batteries in the early hours. Put some washing on. Topped the #PHEV car up when the sun came out. Cooked tea and all the usual domestic stuff. Pulled a bit from the grid when the sun went in etc. but our bill is around 70% lower than it would be, even in November, UK. 53degN.

This box stores enough #electricity to power a small home for around 8 hours. Three of them could fit in a kitchen cupboard, I find it amazing we have the technology and there are more abundant chemistries on the horizon #BatteryStorage #lfp #PowerSystems
