The arcade version of Atari’s #Battlezone (1980) was a groundbreaking game, introducing players to the thrill of first-person shooter gameplay in wireframe 3D graphics. But the #Atari2600 version means so much more to me. #retrogames

I was blown away by the #Battlezone clone #bz on cool #SiliconGraphics machines (with HUGE monitors) at university. That was my first indication that there was a world out there beyond #DOS and #Windows.
One day, I bought #Caldera #OpenLinux 2.2 from #FutureShop. And I could play #BZFlag! It was amazing - but something didn't work. Maybe sound? I forget.
Years later, I tried #Mandrake 9.0. I used it solidly until I discovered #Ubuntu. The rest is history.
