Bears Draft day 3 thoughts:

It's tough to nitpick day 3 picks as it's a crapshoot. I love the Roschon Johnson (RB Texas) and Tyler Scott (WR Cincinnati) picks. I think both can be contributors in some form.

My only complaint is that I wish they would've drafted an interior OL. Other than that, I'm fine with the class.

Cubs and Bears Commentary:

1) Cubs bullpen blows another game. My gosh...if they miss the playoffs by a game or two that will be the reason.

2) Bears go defensive heavy (DT, DB, DT) w their 3 picks today and that's fine w me. They are swinging for upside and hopefully one or two hit.

1) I think it's simple - to continue to build around Fields, I want an OL at # 9 whether it's Peter Skoronski, Paris Johnson, or Darnell Wright.

2) I predict the Bears will actually pick a defensive player - Jalen Carter, Christian Gonzalez, or Lukas Van Ness.

Chicago Bears Commentary:

1) I like pretty much every move the Bears have made so far. I love the signing of PJ Walker as Fields backup. I first watched him in the XFL in 2020 for Houston.

2) OL has always been my priority for the Bears offseason and there is still work to be done. It seems to me Poles prefers the OL in the draft to the FAs. That's fine, but then they need to draft Skoronski or Johnson at 9 and not wait until the 3rd to draft one. Must protect Fields.

Individually I am fine w each individual move the Bears have made so far in FA - they are definitely better. With that said, O line should be the priority and they've only added Nate Davis. I want two more good additions to be satisfied. If they don't address it in FA, then I expect the # 9 pick to be either Peter Skoronski or Paris Johnson.

Everything the Bears do this offseason has to be done w the offense as the priority. Any big asset (high draft pick, big FA $$) that is used to acquire a defensive player over an offensive player is a waste IMO.

1) Keep Fields
2) Build an Oline
3) Acquire weapons including a # 1 WR
4) Extend Kmet and Mooney

Fields is the franchise. It's imperative to give him all of the tools.
