Rewatched Beauty and the Beast, and I have an hypothesis re: Beast's age. It's _not_ an 11yr old child on the torn portrait in the west wing, it's a young man. I bet they first had him be _cursed_ on his 21th birthday with a deadline 10yrs later. However someone responsible did the math and realised he'd then be almost twice as old as Belle, figured that was kinda' icky, and did some last minute changes to the story.
