Today we held a first BeSci lab reading session with a new cohort of MSc dissertation students. We were discussing (lamenting) underpowered lab studies and ended up agreeing no one should work on an individual dissertation project. Instead we will define one lab project and everyone will contribute. We will share everything except writings and exploratory analyses (so they can submit individual dissertation, as per the regs). I feel fulfilled. #teamscience #BehavioralScience

The Dutch government legally requires employees in the financial sector to take a Hippocratic oath. In an audit study, professional auditors confronted financial advisers with a conflict of interest. When auditors apply a nudge that DIRECTly refers to the banker’s oath, advisers are less likely to prioritize bank’s interests (less likely advise taking out a loan).

While the experimental method has long been central in many scientific disciplines, it was almost nonexistent in finance until the 1980s. Since the first experiments were published in finance journals in the 1980s, the share of experimental publications has markedly increased.
