The straps of the goggles + the head strap of the are always a puzzle to calmly solve whenever I have to take off my mask for a second :') Figure out which straps are over which, fix it if need be, put everything back in and fix it again, then BREATHE again, ah.

So I just end up cutting my hair to a pixie, basically every time before flying, for convenience. Kinda sucks, but it makes a world of difference on the day.

We have a choice to make.
1. Work towards a society prepared for pandemics like SARS-CoV-2 by developing infrastructure & behaviour consistent with reducing transmission with the goal of minimising social and economic disruption (with possible collateral benefits)
2. Push for the pre-pandemic status quo and leave us a vulnerable as we were, scrambling for PPE and forced to limit gatherings and close businesses for prolonged periods.

Given preliminary excess deaths estimates, year thru mid-Jan saw one in four excess deaths as due to causes other than acute covid.

That's sudden & not-so-sudden deaths due to post-acute sequelae plus other—once preventable—deaths due to understaffed hospitals.

With no China reporting, U.S. share of G20 deaths jumps to 21.8%. Same for G20 deaths.
