Les étudiants de l'Université Virtuelle du Sénégal ont accès à leurs cours en replay, mais aucune option pour enregistrer ces replays pour pouvoir les lire hors connexion, ce alors que la connexion est chère (payée au Go) et souvent instable.

@dashdsrdash also #Zulip has an actually working #Search and allows organizing stuff - unlike #Slack or #Discord.

It further integrates with #JitsiMeet (and even #BigBlueButton) so if one needs a #voicechat / #videochat or #presentation done, it just works.

We've tried encouraging our service users to join our online workshops via #JitsiMeet in the past and faced considerable backlash for using it from these less confident tech users whose introduction to video calls at the start of the pandemic was, sadly, via #Zoom. O #Jitsi e o #BigBlueButton continuam a existir, são gratuitos (ainda que os utilizadores possam e devam contribuir para os projectos), podem ser geridos internamente (em self hosting) e respeitam completamente os utilizadores, não utilizando dados para treinar o que quer que seja, apenas os utilizam para melhorar os programas (quando em servidores de terceiros, em self hosting até isso pode ser controlado). @riamaria Check #BigBlueButton, it is more of a remote learning solution but is being used, for example, by https://communitybridge.com/ as a jack-of-all-trades in videoconferencing and even video sharing.

Both are - like #JitsiMeet - available not only as #ManagedService from several providers but also #SelfHosting-capable.

Jitsi hat für mich gut funktioniert. Inzwischen haben wir bei der Arbeit BigBlueButton (kurz BBB). Wie bei Jitsi gibt es hier auch jede Menge freie Instanzen, z.B. https://www.senfcall.de. Für Listen siehe auch https://github.com/tosterkamp/random-redirect

Eine Sache, die mir (und anderen) noch Spaß gemacht hat, wenn man es etwas "anders" haben will, ist https://gather.town . Dort sieht & hört man sich erst, wenn man sich mit den Avataren nah ist.

Kent iemand een partij die managed hosting aanbiedt voor #BigBlueButton ? Als potentiële vervanger voor Zoom. (We gebruiken ook een eigen hosted Jitsi server maar die is in de praktijk vooral geschikt voor gesprekken van enkele personen.)

I was thinking the same thing for UCSD and SDCCD where I teach. Can anyone recommend good alternatives. #BigBlueButton was tricky for me. Was only able to use it to host a couple meetings. Similarly and even less successfully for #jitsi.

If your educational institution is still using #Zoom, especially in light of their policy change to use/sell your content to train #LargeLanguageModels (#LLMs), it's doing the wrong thing. Digitally literate institutions (a rare & precious thing) already use #BigBlueButton (#BBB) which is #LibreSoftware & substantially better for educational applications.
